Parent Briefing – 7 May 2021
Dear parents and carers
Lateral Flow Tests
Thank you to all students, parents and carers who are continuing to support the testing at College. We will now be sending an alert via parents’ email on Sundays and Wednesdays to remind students to carry out their tests and report the results both to the College and on the NHS website. Students are starting to receive their next set of home test kits and they should all have been handed out by the end of today. Each box contains 7 tests which is enough for the next three and a half weeks.
Year 11 Celebration
We are tentatively planning a Year 11 Leavers’ celebration to be held on the 24th June 2021 at Trethorne Golf Club. This is of course subject to any COVID restrictions still in place. A letter was sent out by email to all parents and carers of Year 11 students last week. Payment and order forms need to be returned by Friday 14th May 2021.
Year 10 Work Experience
Due to the uncertainty of Government COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s work experience for Year 10 will not be able to take place in the normal way. Instead we plan to hold a virtual work experience for students to participate in at home. More details on this will be released in due course. During the week where work experience would have taken place, students will now follow their usual weekly timetable for lessons.
Year 10 Assessments
We wanted to give students and parents plenty of advance notice about Year 10 assessments planned for next half term. These assessments are scheduled for the week beginning Monday 28th June and more details will follow after half term. We wanted to reassure you that we will be planning and using these assessments to help us monitor the progress your child has made during the first year of their GCSE courses, and to inform any support required as they progress into Year 11.
