Parent Briefing – 27 May 2022

Dear parents and carers

Year 10 Work Experience
The Year 10 Work Experience week is 4th – 8th July. Thank you to everyone that has already handed in completed forms. Please could any outstanding forms be given to Mrs Acaster as soon as possible. Replacement forms can be found here. Students without placements or completed paperwork will be expected to be in College for the week.

Year 11 Exams and Sixth Form Induction
A letter from Mr Rush, Head of Sixth Form, has been added to our website and can be found here regarding further information about the Year 11 exams and induction to our Sixth Form. If you have any queries regarding Sixth Form, please contact sixthform@launcestoncollege.org.uk

Free School Meal Voucher
Over the last couple of years, the Government have funded vouchers for those families in receipt of Free School Meals to cover the holiday periods. Unfortunately, the Government have now stopped this funding and the last vouchers were sent to families for Easter. There will be no more vouchers for holiday periods. If your family are struggling during the holidays please speak to your child’s House Office who will be able to direct you to organisations who may be able to help.

College Car Park
Over the half term break, the main College car park from Hurdon Road will be reconfigured as part of our refurbishment programme. There will be a dedicated lane for the buses with separate parking for staff and visitors to the left of the car park. If you drive your child to school, please be aware of these changes and we are asking parents to drop off their child rather than park in the spaces, unless you are visiting the College.

Year 7 House T-Shirts
Students in Year 7 were sent home with a letter yesterday regarding the opportunity to purchase a House t-shirt. If your child would like one, payments need to be made via Parent Pay and slips returned to your child’s House Office by Wednesday 8th June.

Summer Uniform Rules
After May half term our summer uniform rules allow students to remove their jumpers if they wish to. All other uniform rules still apply and we are grateful for the continued support of parents and carers with this. Full uniform guidance can be found here.

With kind regards
Jenn Burn
Principal
