Year 11/12/13 – Exams
Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
Thank you for all the feedback you have provided us with over the first two weeks of this third lockdown period. The remote learning and Google classrooms are working well and we are exceptionally pleased with the maturity that our students are showing in their ongoing engagement with their learning.
We fully understand the unease that is created when so many unknowns still exist with regards to how students will be assessed for their GCSE, BTEC, AS and A level examinations this year. However, please rest assured that as soon as we have clarity we will communicate what will be expected of students at Launceston College, along with a timescale of when any assessments that may be needed will occur. As we stated last week, the best course of action for students to take right now is to stay fully engaged with their learning so they are as prepared as they can be for any eventuality.
You may be aware that on Friday the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual), who regulate qualifications, examinations and assessments in England, released a consultation document outlining their proposals for an alternative to examinations this summer and this can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-how-gcse-as-and-a-level-grades-should-be-awarded-in-summer-2021 . We encourage all students, parents and carers to engage with this consultation and provide your feedback directly to Ofqual.
Thank you once again for your continued support and together we will ensure the best possible outcomes for all students in examination years at Launceston College.
Mrs Jenn Burn
