First World War Display

2014 marks 100 years since the start of the First World War, and begins a series of events and memorials designed to commemorate this period of history.  Year 9 history students have been studying this as part of their curriculum on 20th Century history.

In order to understand the war students were asked to research their family history to discover stories about The Great War and their family involvement. Fascinating stories were uncovered, such as a Great, great Uncle who was shot in the mouth on the Western Front, to a Great, great Grandfather who met his wife when she drove the ambulance he was being taken to hospital in following a Zeppelin attack.  This project will help to ensure we never forget the sacrifices that were made.  The students have produced a superb display which includes many of these personal stories and images.
