Success for Ten Tors 2019

The weather on Dartmoor was kind for this year’s Ten Tors event and our teams proudly crossed the finish line on Sunday into the welcoming arms of parents who came along to celebrate their success.

The Challenge sees young people from 14-19 years taking on a 35, 45 or 55 miles walk self supported across Dartmoor. Participants spend the winter months training hard to pick up the skills and gain the fitness required to succeed in this arduous event and this year’s students did not disappoint.

We had two 35 mile teams participating this year, Archie Dinnis led Ollie Acaster, Charlotte Summersby, Katrina Henwood, Tino Gee and Edward Hallett on their route, leading their route for the whole of Saturday to arrive just before 10:00am on Sunday morning. Jack Statton led his team with Ella McDonnell, Ted Kenyon, Grace Phippard, Izzy Johnson and Harry Tomlin missed their planned camp cut off time on day one by  mere minutes leaving them a longer day two to complete,  and walking in at 12:40 on Sunday.

All individuals overcame personal challenges to ensure their teams walked across the finish line together and we couldn’t have been more proud to watch them grow throughout their training and all their hard work pay off as they proudly earned their medals.
