STEM Immersive Learning day for Year 9
On Tuesday 4th June Year 9 were treated to a fantastic day of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) based activities and workshops led by a range of local professionals who all have STEM-based careers. In the morning the students were given a brilliant demonstration of solid, liquid and gas properties in a fantastic live show delivered by Ben Brown from Explorer Dome – the highlight of which was the liquid nitrogen show! The students then went on to workshops that included cheese making, 3D printing, and gas-powered model planes, all of which were excellent and really gave students an insight into how they could use STEM in further careers. We would like to extend our thanks to Cornwall Council for arranging the day, to all the professionals that kindly delivered the workshops, and to the Royal Society of Chemistry for helping to fund the event.
