Frequently Asked Questions about Enrolment into Launceston College Sixth Form
Below are some FAQ’s about joining the Sixth Form, hopefully, these will answer some of you queries. If you cannot find the answer here, or need more advice, please email:

The main advice is: If you have an enrolment appointment please attend and we will be able to discuss all you concerns and queries and advise you on your options and then support you in moving forward. Parents, carers  and other supporting adults are welcome to attend your appointment with you to help you make your decisions.

  • I have not yet made an application to join Launceston College Sixth Form, is it too late?

No it is not too late, please click here to download an application form, and look at the blocks and the subject leaflets on the Sixth Form prospectus.

Read the guidance notes and complete the application form, email it to and we will send you an appointment time. If you cannot email it then please come to the school on Tuesday 3rd September at 10:30am with your application form and results and we will give you an enrolment pack and an appointment time.

  • I did not achieve grade 4 or above in maths and/or English.

Don’t worry, there are still courses open to you, please attend your enrolment appointment and we can advise you of your options.

In the meantime you might want to look at the leaflets on the Sixth Form Prospectus especially, the level 2 progression course (if you want a general course) or one of our level 2 vocational courses ( women’s hair, childcare, professional cookery, construction). Whatever you chose you will need to, and be able to, retake you maths and/or English as part of your course.

  • I did not achieve the entry requirements for some or all of the subjects I had chosen.

Again, don’t worry, please attend your enrolment appointment, and we will talk through your options.

Subjects have flexible entry criteria.  Please look at the subject leaflets on the Sixth Form Prospectus page.  Some students undertake 3 years of Sixth Form study to best support them in their future career ambitions.

  • I have changed my mind about the subjects I want to study.

Please attend your enrolment appointment, where we can discuss your new choices with you. Also, look at the blocks and the subject leaflets on the Sixth Form prospectus page.

Two things to remember, firstly you can only do one subject in each block and secondly, entry requirements are there to guide you on how suitable a subject will be for you, bsed on your GCSE results.

  • I can’t attend my enrolment appointment.

If you email letting us know when you are available between the 2nd and 4th September, we will try to rearrange your appointment at a suitable time.

  • I can’t remember what time my enrolment appointment is.

Please look on the enrolment card in your enrolment pack. If you can’t find it, then contact and we will reply including you enrolment time.

  • I can’t find, or have not received, my enrolment pack.

If you have lost your pack that you received on induction day, or you could not attend and have not collected your pack then you can download the relevant forms and guidance notes from the enrolment information page.

If you have only just applied (see above) then once you have your appointment time  please download and complete the forms and read the guidance notes available on the link above

  • What do I need to bring to my enrolment appointment.

Firstly, yourself!! please attend at the appointed time. You may bring a parent, carer or supporter to help you with any decisions that need to be made, or just as another pair of ears to help you remember everything that is said.

Finally there is a list of paperwork, you need to bring, on the enrolment information page of this website.

If you are a student who did not attend Launceston College in Year 11 please also bring a paper copy of your GCSE results.

  • I have other questions not answered here
