Rugby Cup Final
Launceston College Year 11 rugby team, reached the County Cup final school rugby competition. On the way to the final the boys had success against The Roseland and Redruth schools and came up against a strong Penryn College team who had knocked them out the previous year in the semi-finals. The Penryn outfit are a well drilled, strong and athletic team and this proved to be the case in the first half. The Launceston boys held their own defensively, not allowing the opposition to gain any ground and turning the ball over regularly throughout the half, although the boys were on the back foot in the oppositions half, we were able to gain a penalty which Jack Statton successfully converted. Launceston went in at half time 3-0 to the good; knowing that the second half was going to be a hard fought contest around the break down. Penryn changed their tactics slightly in the second half and looked to spread the ball wide at every opportunity. Launceston showed good resolve throughout however, succumbed to some strong backs play with Penryn running in three tries in the second half. Thank you to all parents/ supporters that came down to support the boys, Hayle Rugby Club and Penryn for a fantastic game of Rugby the final score was 3-17 to Penryn College.
