Portuguese Students Gain Work Experience in Cornwall

Four students and two teachers from one of our Erasmus partner schools in Portugal, were in Launceston for the last two weeks. The students took part in work experience at Countrywide Farmers in Launceston and Duchy College. Their project was funded through the Erasmus VET (Vocational Educational Training) programme. The work experience programme was a great success thanks to the excellent opportunities and warm welcome offered by both Countrywide Farmers and Duchy College. At Countrywide Farmers the students worked in the store, visited a number of local farms, Holsworthy Market and an animal feed mill in Lifton. At Duchy College time was spent working with a variety of farm livestock, horses and small animals.  We would like to thank David Shadrick (Store Manager) and James Coumbe (Farm Director), and their respective teams, for their support during this project.
Two of the visiting students are seen in the above photograph with members of staff at Countrywide Farmers. From Left to right: Megan Thomas, David Shadrick (Store Manager), Rúben Almeida, Tiago Santos and Hannah Way.
The Portuguese visitors are pictured outside the Eagle House Hotel : Susana Peixoto (Teacher), Tiago Santos, Bruno Abreu, Miguel Moura and Rúben Almeida.
It is hoped that in the future Launceston College students will be able to follow a similar programme of work experience with the help of one of our Erasmus partner schools.
