We have an extensive transition programme in order to enable students coming to College to feel supported, confident and able to succeed. We recognise that moving to secondary school can give rise to concerns and lots of questions. We hope to provide you with the information you need to help you prepare for this important phase in your child’s life. We are available to talk to you should you need to know anything else. We welcome the opportunity to show students and parents around the College.
Year 6 – 7 Parent’s Meeting
We would like to invite you and your child to meet their Head of House, tutor and other key Launceston College staff on Thursday 9th July 2020.
On this evening you will be provided with an induction pack.
Mrs Sarah Rowland, KS3 Pastoral Support, will be contacting all primary schools to exchange relevant transition information before the induction arrangements start. If you have any particular questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Rowland on the main College number (01566 772468) or via email firstname.lastname@example.org
Year 6 induction meeting (outside catchment)
Students who are joining Launceston College from outside our normal catchment area will be invited to attend the 2 induction days on 13th and 14th July 2020. Students will also be invited to join us for an extra transition visit to Launceston College during the summer term (date to be confirmed) Mrs Rowland will write to you directly if this is applicable to you.
Year 6 Transition days
Students will visit and spend 2 days with us on 13th and 14th July 2020 in order to begin to acquaint themselves with their fellow students, teachers and the College site (we will take photos and do thumbprints on these days in preparation for September). We ask that you complete the on-line admissions form by this date and don’t forget to tick the box giving permission for thumbprint recognition.
Some students will make extra visits to College depending on their individual needs.
