Transition Overview 2022

Dear parents

Here are our plans so far for transition 2022. We are very much looking forward to working with you and your child. The next few months will fly by and so to help you with your planning please see a breakdown of how we aim to support your child to make the move to Launceston College.

Spring 2022

March
Year 6 transition visits to all Primary Schools.  Slides can also be shared as a follow up resource – Mrs Rash, Heads of House plus some student House leaders will be involved in the visits.

Detailed academic, pastoral and SEN information will be gathered on students via Google Form and conversations with primary staff.  This information helps us to build the tutor groups.

Online admission form

Please can parents complete this form once they have their place at College confirmed by Cornwall County Council. This information is essential in helping us to support you and your child. The form takes about 30 minutes to complete. The form can be accessed from the blue button below.

Summer term 2022

Visits to meet Year 5 and parents – to include current KS3 students (where possible from the same Primary School).

This is a chance for students in Year 5 and their parents to get to know College staff and hear about what we have to offer.

May
Transition materials sent to schools – part of the literary canon.

All students in Year 6 to receive a free copy of a text delivered by College staff. This year we chose Philp Pullman’s Clockwork as the text.

Resources will be available on the College website for schools and parents to use.

Small school’s morning

Students transitioning from a small primary school or where they are perhaps the only student coming from that school will be invited in to visit the College, have a tour and meet other Year 6 students. Date to be confirmed.
