Parent Briefing – 3 December 2021

Dear parents and carers

COVID-19 Immunisations
The school immunisation team were on site yesterday carrying out further COVID-19 immunisations. Due to the high numbers of student opting to have the vaccine, they were unable to vaccinate all students yesterday. They are due back on site on the 6th December for the flu vaccinations but have now confirmed that these will be cancelled and they administer the COVID vaccine to any outstanding students instead. If you have any queries, please contact Kernow Health on 01872 221105.

End of Term Early Closure
As is usual at the end of the Autumn term, Launceston College will close at the earlier time of 1.30pm on Friday 17th December 2021. If this causes you any difficulties then please contact Mrs Preece, Attendance Officer, on 01566 771850.

School transport will leave at 1.40pm after our final celebration assembly which once again this year will be pre-recorded and viewed in tutor rooms. The Go Cornwall buses, LAU-G10 (Warbstow/Tregare), LAU-G11 (North Petherwin), LAU-G12 (Saltash), LAU-G12B (Boyton/Ladycross), LAU-G425 (North Petherwin/Maxworthy/Langore), LAU-G236 (Upton Cross/North Hill) and LAU-G177 (Altarnun/Polyphant) are all service buses and unable to leave early due to their service timetables. We are hoping that parents of these students will be able to arrange for their children to be collected, as in previous years.

If this is not possible, can you please let Mrs Preece know by Tuesday 14th December in order that we can make arrangements for these students to be supervised until they can catch their bus at the normal leaving time of 3.15pm. If we receive confirmation next week that any of these buses are able to arrive earlier, a message will be sent to parents.

Internet Safety
Internet Matters Organisation have provided some useful guides to parents on internet safety for their children. These are available on our website at

Carol Service, 13th December at 7.30pm
Students are still currently rehearsing as planned for our Carol Service on the 13th December at St Mary’s Church, Launceston and it would be wonderful to see you all there. However, should COVID restrictions make is necessary to cancel at late notice, we will be providing a recorded version for everyone to view online.

Best wishes
