Parent Briefing – 24 September 2021
Dear parents and carers
Mask and Face Coverings
As you know the South West is currently a COVID-19 Enhanced Response Area (ERA) due to high rates of Covid-19 in the region. As part of this, secondary school pupils and staff have been asked to wear face coverings in communal areas, unless exempt. This includes in corridors and shared transport but does not extend to classrooms. Case rates have come down since the end of August, but they are still high in the region. Therefore, the Director of Public Health for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and the public health team have agreed that it is appropriate to continue with the same advice regarding mask wearing in educational settings for the next two weeks, when it will be reviewed again. We thank you for your support with this measure that is helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Connect Card
Headstart Kernow wanted to provide a quick way for young people to find information about emotional health and wellbeing. Something small and simple that could be kept handy in a wallet or phone case or on a key ring. So they invented, designed and created ‘The Connect Card’.
Users just scan the Connect Card’s QR Code to get:
- Information about wellbeing and mental health
- Signposts to support
- Info about firm stuff in your local area including freebies and competitions
- Ways to “get involved” and have your voice heard about the things you care about!
- A chance to volunteer to earn ‘Time Credits’ / Rewards (we are very keen to support volunteering with Headstart Youth in and out of school).
The cards have been shared with students this week.
