Parent Briefing – 23 April 2021

Dear parents and carers

Welcome to the summer term. I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful and relaxing Easter break and were able to get outside to enjoy some of the glorious Cornish and Devon sunshine without having to travel far from home. It has been a busy first week back and we are really looking forward to being able to offer more opportunities to students if COVID restrictions are gradually eased as planned throughout May and June. Year 11, 12 and 13 students are currently working hard to prepare for and complete their final assessments this half term and we are also working very hard to finalise plans to celebrate the completion of their achievements and to offer important opportunities to help support and prepare them for their next steps. More details on this will follow for Year 11, 12 and 13 students and parents as soon as they have been finalised.

Lateral Flow Testing at Home

Thank you to everyone that has been home testing regularly and reporting the results both to the NHS and College. It really does help to keep everyone safe and helps us to maintain as COVID secure an environment as we possibly can in College. Further testing kits have been sent home with students this week. The links to report the result of the Lateral Flow Tests can be found on the front page of our website at  Thank you again for your continued support and please do keep testing and reporting the results.

Inset Day 2021-2022

We have recently reviewed the 2021-2022 College Calendar and wanted to give you plenty of advance notice that the INSET day originally proposed for Friday 8th July 2022 has now been moved to Tuesday 4th January 2022. The Spring Term will therefore start for all students on Wednesday 5th January 2022. The 2021-22 term dates on the College website have been updated to reflect this change and I am confident that the advanced notice will mean no one is inconvenienced.

Water Bottles

Now that Spring has arrived and the weather will start to warm up, please can students ensure they bring a water bottle to College every day. There are facilities around College for students to refill their bottles during their breaktimes.

Yours sincerely

Jenn Burn
