Parent Briefing – 12 November 2021

Dear parents and carers

Sixth Form Open Evening
Our Sixth Form are holding their open evening on Thursday 18th November between 6pm -8pm. Any student in Year 11 and their parents/carers who would like to attend are welcome to do so and we look forward to seeing lots of you there. We also accept applications from students outside of Launceston College.

COVID-19 Vaccinations
The first day of vaccines took place this week with nearly all of Year 9, 10 and 11 students being vaccinated. Unfortunately, due to the large uptake for the vaccine, the School Nursing Team ran out of time and vaccines to immunise everyone they had hoped to. Those who were not immunised this week will be vaccinated during the next session which is taking place on Friday 19th November for Year 8 plus any qualifying Year 7 students. If you have not yet completed the online consent form and wish your child to have the immunisation, please can you complete this as soon as possible. If you have any queries or problems with the booking system, please contact Kernow Health direct on 01872 221105.

Alternatively students between the age of 12-15 can access an immunisation by booking online at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ and attend a vaccination centre.

Emergency Closure Procedures
Thank you to those who have completed the survey already to confirm how your child should make their way home from College should we ever need to close in an emergency. If you have not completed this, please could you fill the survey in via this link https://forms.gle/m7N3b7mLauarM8DX9 Please fill this survey out for each of your children.

Year 8 Parent Information Evening
Thank you to parents/carers and students in Year 8 who made the time to attend out information evening this week. This was a welcome opportunity to meet you, answer questions and to share with you some of the key messages we share with young people to help them become successful learners.

Best wishes
