Grading of GCSEs, A-levels and Other Qualifications in Summer 2021
It has been great to welcome students in Year 11, 12 and 13 back into College this week after such a long period of remote learning.
We know that students and parents will have many questions about what will happen for the rest of this academic year and hope that this letter will clarify as much as we know at the current time.
The exam boards are due to publish guidance before Easter about the proposed content and structure of the assessments that we will be able to use this year.
Students at Launceston College will continue in their learning and preparation for assessment for the remainder of the spring term. The structure, format and timings of the assessments will be confirmed before the Easter break
Shorter assessments than traditional exams will be conducted during adapted lesson time under exam conditions in the classroom. Students will be supported thoroughly in their preparations for final rigorous assessments that are a fair and accurate representation of their learning at the end of their course.
The national process for awarding grades this year has been clearly outlined by the Department of Education and this is the process that the College must now follow. We hope that the following FAQs will help to give you some further clarity as to how qualifications will be awarded this year.
