The awarding of GCSE, BTEC, AS and A-Level grades

Last Thursday morning (25.2.21) the government released the long-awaited details of how grades are going to be awarded in place of exams this summer. The full response to the consultation can be found here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/964597/6747-1_decisions_-_GQ_consultation_on_awarding_grades_in_2021.pdf

Students will be awarded grades based upon the assessment from their teachers from a range of assessment materials. The finer details of how schools will be asked to calculate the grades will come out from exam boards before the Easter Holidays, and as a College we will be working hard to make sure that we have robust procedures in place so that our students can achieve the very best outcomes this summer. We are very much looking forward to welcoming students back into the College buildings on the week beginning 8th March, however, students should rest assured that there will be no rush to complete assessments. Assessments will be organised by faculties in a timely manner to allow students to prepare accordingly. In the short term, our best advice is for students to remain calm and focussed on their studies, working closely with their teachers to achieve quality progression in their learning.

We will share more details with you as and when it becomes available.

Kind Regards,
Mr S Rush
Assistant Principal KS5
