Aspire Programme Problem Solving Day – Is the world’s population too high?
On Friday 26th June, a group of Year 11 students who have been working with our Gifted and Talented programme, spent a rigorous, challenging, and immersive day attempting to solve the problem of global overpopulation. Students had a range of resources and prompts, including visits and guidance from past members of the Aspire Programme, in order to produce a fifteen minute speech to a panel of adults at the end of the day. The first of many future such events, this was a great opportunity for students to practise public speaking, but also a way of drawing together knowledge from different subject areas in order to think creatively and analytically.
‘A really challenging, and scary day, but rewarding and well worth the effort!’ – Year 11 student.
